OK. So, last week on Tuesday I was told that it would be my last day of my contract. They wanted to let me know that they were very happy with my work, but there was no money in the budget. If I wanted to return down the road and they had an opening I would be the first one called….yada yada yada….

I took this news more or less in stride. It’s not the first time a contract I was working ended unexpectedly and I try to maintain a healthy attitude in general and believe that everything that happens is meant to happen. Maybe this would lead to a different/better (Yeah, by better I mean more $$$) position. I was all set to go out on a one day contract doing a PC rollout tomorrow.

So I get this call today, “They want you back, can you start tomorrow morning?”. So yeah, basically, I got a nice week off with no pay, so they could get their act together and pay for me for at least another year.

Then, earlier tonight, I was IMed by the guy I worked with. I was all set to surprise him with the news that I would be there tomorrow, when he says that today was his last day. So, I have to go into work tomorrow, do the work of 2 people (since my coworker is gone) and really not have anything to show for the last week of my life.

P.S. On a brighter note, the results of this online quiz made me laugh……

I hope everyone had themselves a happy Turkey Day. I was hoping to also celebrate Buy Nothing Day but unfortunately Best Buy lured me to their store for some goodies. Damn those mail-in-rebates! My record has been pretty good with them of late, I’ve only missed 1 out of the last 5 or so, and that wasn’t because I forgot, but because I misplaced a UPC….oh well…..

Oh yeah, BTW, if you are ever waiting and waiting and waiting for something to arrive….try posting about it on your Blog. Apparently, once you’ve posted about how something has been taking a long time, you can then check your email and see that it has in fact been shipped to you. That’s exactly what happened with my Alienware Laptop. I finally have the ellusive computer and am attempting to bring it up to my current standards. It’s amazing how many things you have to load and tweak on a new system. I’d forgotten.

P.S. I can’t believe how long I’ve had to wait for Tron 2.0 to be shipped to me from that ebay auction I haven’t won yet…….

Man, I really was hoping to have had a nice shiny new Alienware laptop to speak to my faithful readers. Alas, it was not meant to be. After patiently awaiting FedEx to figure out where my laptop was…(editors note: FedEx Employees…not always the brightest bulbs….)  I opened up the trendy Alienware box to discover a nice shiny notebook…that was NOT what I ordered. In fact, it was what someone else ordered. Turns out, somebody else got my laptop and I got his!

<sigh>

At any rate, my Conspiracy Blue Area-51m is still somewhere in Miami, awaiting the final go-ahead (again) for Alienware to ship it to me. I’ve already called and yelled, and emailed and yelled, and called and yelled again, but I guess I can’t really give a thumbs up or down until I actually have the damn thing. They have offered me some Amazon.com bucks for my troubles, which I can’t decide if I should spend on Books or Video Games. (Raven of course thinks I should buy a certain DVD, but we shall see….)

MultiMayhem X is this Saturday. On the one hand, I’m excited to go since I haven’t been to a good LAN Party in some time….however, Ye Olde PIII 500 may not be quite up to snuff anymore. Oh well, I’ll have my fancy-shmancy notebook next time….I hope…..

Hey there! How’s it going? I hope that I will be able to catch my breath soon. I just found out that I managed to test out of my Monday night class! Hopefully that will be the extra time I need to resume a moderately normal life.
