Ace, the Bat-hound.

February 21, 2016
Ace likes the snow.

Ace likes the snow.

Yeah, I know.

You forgot I was even here. This site has been dormant for almost 2 years. No one will ever see this post.

Of course, the goal of … whatever one would call this … was never really for others to admire and/or admonish me and my mis-adventures. It’s not strictly a journal either… but… it’s still a (somewhat) unique extension of myself that I can’t quite seem to quit completely. Oh well, enough of that…

So, the handsome fellow you see at the top of this post is my new doge, Ace. Named for a certain vigilante’s canine companion. We adopted him with the intention of training him to be a diabetes alert dog. Unfortunately, we’re still working on the standard obedience training, let alone service dog training. He’s fairly well-behaved, and he enjoys going to our local Dog Park.

But he’s still trouble.

House Arrest

July 17, 2013
Alonzo trying to keep me incapacitated.

Alonzo trying to keep me incapacitated.

See that?  That’s the world’s most adorable cat, pinning me down when I’m trying to drag myself out of  bed.

So yeah, that’s the reason you haven’t been hearing from me.  Totally.

Still, most of the time I run into people I haven’t see in a while I get the standard “What’ve you been up to?” and invariably my answer is “I dunno.  Same-old, same-old.”

But, I can think of at least a couple of newer things I’ve been up to, so I’ll recount them here.

First off, I have decided that I am going to learn how to program.  Like with a real computer language and everything.  So I’m about half-way through a semester of Java Programming I at Saint Paul College.  I haven’t quite decided if I’m going to focus on Java Programming in General, Mobile Application Development, or Video Game Design.

I’ve also been involved in the creation of Fearless Comedy Productions.  So far we are comprised almost exclusively of Vilification Tennis cast members, but we’ve got some lofty goals, and I’m optimistic that they can be achieved.

Speaking of Fearless, I’ve even done some stand-up comedy at our “Fearless Lab” a couple of times.  It’s a little different than I expected but I did really enjoy it.  I guess the next step is to start going to Open Mics and try, try, try again.

Now if I can just get this cat to let me go…

Blog Dammit

December 19, 2011

Oh man, this place is gettin’ DUSTY!

I don’t really have any good reasons for letting the cobwebs settle, I just have been doing other things. :-/

However, I just started reading Wil Wheaton‘s book Just a Geek and it reminded me that writing every day (Yeah, like I’ve ever met that goal.) makes you a better writer. It’s a simple concept and I’m more than a little embarrassed that I’ve neglected this site for so long.

So…. We’ll have to see if I can redeem myself. In the meantime, if I don’t post again before then, Merry Holidays!

Hail to the King!

You are a Street Character! Some folk have trouble striking up conversations with strangers, but not so for you! No one is safe from your attentions and it is your goal to guarantee that all comers leave with at least one direct interaction under their belt. You may not be the king or a knight, but theres a good bet people will remember you for a long time to come!

What Renaissance Performer are you?

Ah yes, the Renaissance Festival.

Two weeks ago, I went out at the request of my former Puppet Troupe compatriots, and we had an “old school, kick your ass puppet shift”. Butch, George, Eric and I ran around for almost an hour in ye olde body puppets. It was an inordinate amount of fun.

Butch pulled out the Drunken King, a bit which has been known to cripple me with laughter. Butch & George also did the bit where the King is presenting Shirley the Jester’s jokes, and then explaining them… my favorite exchange is this:

Shirley: “Knock, Knock.”

Patron: “Who’s There?”

Shirley: “Chinese interrupting cow. “

Patron: “Chinese interr…”

Shirley: “MAO!

King: “You see, Chairman Mao, of China, is outside your door, AND HE’S A COW!!!

I had a good time with some of my old bits as well. I have always liked just playing with the physicality of the puppets. I mean, as Butch says, you’re 11 feet tall! It’s amazing how funny it is just to see someone in a puppet just swinging their arms while they walk… I usually try and find a way to lay down….. after all, the Wizard is OLD.

The two subsequent weekends have been less eventful. We’ve been trying to get some of the multitude of house projects under control. One of said projects is an outdoorsy activity, and the weather has not really been cooperating. AT ALL.
