Well damn! Looks like someone found the medallion….and it wasn’t me! Raven, and I were at Phalen from around 6PM yesterday ’til about 2:30AM! Well, we did have like an hour and a half warm-up/dinner break @ Perkins…but I still think we qualify as hardcore.

When the last clue came out @ ~11:15 last night, we were standing right at ground zero. In the space of 5 minutes we couldn’t move from the spot we were in. I guess its good to know that our instincts were correct, even if we didn’t go home with the prize.

We finally threw in the towel after going to warm up in the car around 2:15AM turned into going home and crawling into bed. We had walked around a good portion of the park and also were sore from extended periods of digging. In fact, I’m in what I lovingly refer to as a world of hurt right now…oh well…next year….

Meanwhile, here are all the clues, with “explanations” for each, along with my comments on what Raven & I had theorized them to mean…..

Snow Day!

February 2, 2004

2004 Saint Paul Winter Carnival Ice Palace

Well, the other shoe has dropped in terms of Minnesota Winter. We had the sub-zero temps last week and this week is all about the snow! We got over a foot of snow here in the last 2 days…and I got a snow day and didn’t have to go to school last night…. if only I weren’t already at work, it could’ve been just like the good old days.

I stole the brother’s digital camera again and took some fun snowy pics. I will have to get some more daytime ones, but I like the night ones too.

As far as the pesky Medallion is concerned however, I am beginning to get discouraged. Apparently it is in Phalen and not Battle Creek…at least…I think that’s what they’re getting at….grumble……..

Here are the clues so far:

S-S-So C-C-C-Cold!

January 30, 2004

Damn! Where did the week go? I seriously am not sure that I am all that happy about being back in school. It’s like get up, go to work, go to school, go to sleep, rinse, repeat.

The worst part is, not only am I super short on time, it’s been sub-arctic here and I haven’t had a chance to go Medallion hunting. For those of you not caught up, here are the clues so far:

Clue #1 — Sunday, January 25, 2004
Say it ain’t so, Clueless Joe,
And all who prattle and bark.
Stop yer clue-bashin’, if treasure’s your passion,
Go you look in an area park.

Clue #2 — Monday, January 26, 2004
Jughead has spoken, look for the token
We’ll make it worth your while
Like Archie, you seek an object this week
As green as the Emerald Isle.

Clue #3 — Tuesday, January 27, 2004

I am Le Tired

January 23, 2004

Ugh. What a week. I was waaaaay to used to not having to go to school. Somehow I have survived week 1 of the Winter Quarter. However, I’m already dreading going back on Monday.

Winter Carnival is here! I’m already stoked for the Treasure Hunt. This is my year. I will find the medallion and win $10,000!!!

Or, maybe I’ll just have a nap.

I’m going to try something different this friday, I’m gonna do Past, Present, Future. Hopefully it won’t be a miserable failure.

PAST: The quality of our thoughts can only be as good as the quality of our language, for words are the very core of thought. How diligent were you at building your vocabulary, when you were a youngster?

I would say I was fairly diligent. I don’t know where the importance of the english language was impressed upon me from….but I have always done my best to use themost appropriate word for the situation…

PRESENT: What’s the most recent addition to your vocabulary?

Man, that’s a toughie. I think it may be

Extemporaneous

I picked that one up in speech class. There must be something newer though….hmm…..

FUTURE: What word would you like to see added to the general lexicon… and what word would you like to see removed?

I think damnity-damn-damn-hell could be a good addition. So much gets brought in automatically it seems…like Doh!, Muggle, etc….. I think shiznit should NOT make it in….I hope…I pray….

Oh! I know. I think we should get rid of the word Concur. Because, it always sounded to me like it should mean an opposing opinion…and really, what’s wrong with just saying “I Agree”???

Next Rest Stop 87 Days

January 5, 2004

Amazingly enough, I think this break from school actually has helped my sanity. Things have calmed down at work, I have my evenings free to watch movies & spend time with the wife, I’ve even had some time to play video games and read some blogs!

However, I am fairly certain this is a just a rest-stop on my road trip to dementia. Things are bound to pick up here at work after the holidays and of course I will eventually have to start going to class again. I also have this nagging feeling I should be accomplishing something with this free-time I’d been hearing so much about. I haven’t quite decided what exactly is worthy of this free-time……..

Anyway, I do have a few irons in the fire here and hope to unveil some neat web tricks soonish…. but you’ll just have to stay tuned to learn what they are…..

BTW, this T-Shirt appeals to me on so many levels….I think I have to have one…..or six…..
