Past to the back

January 17, 2004

A couple of things for ya today:

Wil Wheaton went to the 2004 Los Angeles Auto Show. But somehow, I got a glimpse of my future….

“So where should we start?” I said. My answer came in the form of Nolan running toward the biggest SUV I’ve ever seen. Seriously. It was a few feet shorter than a Star Destroyer.

I caught up with him as he climbed into the back seat.

“Wil! Look at how much room there is in here!” He said as he bounced and extended his legs to barely touch the back of the seat ahead of him.

“Yeah, but the power to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of The Force.” I reminded him.

He looked at me with a furrowed brow. “What?”

“Sorry,” I said, “I was having a nerd moment.”

“Oh, good. I hope we can have lots of those today.” He said, dryly.

“I find your lack of faith disturbing.” I said, and twitched my fingers.

He shook his head and laughed, “Whatever, Wil . . . “

Also today, the triumphant return of The Friday Five

Midnight Madness!

December 18, 2003

Yes indeed. The King has returned! Raven, Lala & her husband Dave, Wade, Stephen, Amanda, Ben, my Mom & Dad, and I all went to the 12:01am showing on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. And it was good.

I’m not really sure what else to say about it. If you liked the first two movies you’ll like this one, if you didn’t like the first two movies there’s probably a better way for you to spend 3 hours and 20 minutes of your life. However, I really liked it and can’t wait to see it again and better yet see the whole trilogy with extended scenes and all some ambitious weekend……

Other than that, I have one more class tonight before I get a whole month off of school. This would again be more exciting if I didn’t still have to work the majority of that time…….However, Raven and I are fleeing the Twin Cities for a week, and we intend to do a little bit of skiing and a whole lotta relaxing!

Finally, File this under Better Late Than Never…..the Friday Five:

1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays?

Yes I truly do. I don’t know if it’s just the Winter Holidays, or just the Skiing, or both. I am a native Minnesotan however, so I think after a few days of cold weather my blood just thickens or something. I also don’t like hot weather. You can always put another log on the fire or sleep under another blanket….

2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect?

Well, my parents bought some Time-Share at Breezy Point Resort back in the 80s. Our family has spent nearly every Christmas since up in good ole Unit 502. Of course, nowadays I’d need to be with my lovely wife to really appreciate the season.

3. Do you do have any holiday traditions?

Let’s see. I guess I would have to say… Reading: Peef: The Christmas Bear & Watching: The Muppets Christmas Carol.

Hmm, that doesn’t seem like a very long list….tell ya what, I’ll take notes this year and post afterwords what we did….

4. Do you do anything to help the needy?

Sadly, no. I guess it has to do with the fact that I am always strapped for cash, and that I spend other times of the year volunteering. Christmas is like my one true zone out and do nothing king of holiday.

5. What one gift would you like for yourself?

If I don’t get a Digital Camera this year I am disowning my family.

Raven & GSeven @ The Matrix: Reloaded

I just found a disk with these photos, that I have edited together. Yes, Raven & I are that geeky. We got dressed up for the Opening Night. We did not get dressed up to go and see it in Imax however. Speaking of, the MN engagement ends on Sept 4, and even though it is a little on the expensive side ($12!!!) it is definitely worth it.

Well, it is Friday, and once again, I feel like the weekend is over before it began. I have to setup my tent for Renaissance Festival, which starts on Saturday, I then need to go to a Doctor appointment, and then I need to assist a friend w/his computer. (Yeah, sure, he’s feeding me and we’re probably gonna watch a movie or play some Quake…..But it’s still a full schedule!)

Finally, just because I feel like it, the Friday Five:

1. How much time do you spend online each day?

I guess it depends. If I am at work, I am online nearly all the time in one way or another. At home however, I think I am online for like an hour or so every day….sometimes more….but not as often as I would like!!

2. What is your browser homepage set to?

http://my.yahoo.com

I have been hooked on Yahoo’s portal since the beginning. They integrate everything together so well, and now, I can access Email/Address Book/Calendar via my synchronized Handspring Visor or my Sprint PCS phone!

3. Do you use any instant messaging programs? If so, which one(s)?

I’ve started actually using Yahoo Messenger a little bit at work. I have used/tried ICQ, AIM, and MSN Messenger at one point or another….but now I think they’re icky. <grin>

4. Where was your first webpage located?

Man, I wish I still had the HTML somewhere….it was pa-the-tic. It was somewhere on Geocities (http://www.geocities.com/Paris/9717 to be exact), back when they were their own company, instead of belonging to Yahoo. You can see what my original web page became, at Zoo Station.

5. How long have you had your current website?

I registered my domain in December of 2002. I consider my first post to be 12.16.1999. It wasn’t really a “blog” at that time, but it was the same kind of dated-entry, life observational site, that we have come to call a blog, so that’s my Final Answer.
