So, I need to figure out what to do about a notebook. I’ve been thinking about the Dell Inspiron 8500 for a while now….it features such goodies as a Wide-Aspect screen, NVIDIA

BS in progress

July 22, 2003

Well, I don’t know what I’m going to do about a Digital Camera. I couldn’t quite find one inexpensive enough that seemed to have what I would consider the minimum requirements. <sigh> I’m just not comfortable shelling out $250+ for a camera at this point and the ones that are less than that seem….well….not worth it.
Otherwise, things are going more or less according to plan. I bought a WiFi (802.11b) Wireless Access Point and a Wireless Card for my laptop. (Super good open box/mail-in-rebate deal!!) That seems to be working its magic @ Chez GSeven. So, when I get my new laptop we should be good to go.
How can he afford a new laptop but not a $250+ digital camera you ask? Well, I have the following words of wisdom: Student loans are your friend. At least, until you graduate and they become the bane of your existence for the next 20 years…. (or more…)….but I digress. I am indeed educating myself once again. I have returned to ye olde Brown College to get me some more learnin’. When I have finished the 18 month porgram I will finally be able to put a B.S. after my name. (Most people just add it for me….and they don’t use an acronym.)
Speaking of BS, I have added all the archives in from the old site and will continue to work away in the incredibly vast amounts of free time that I have…..
<yawn>
…..right after my nap.

Unexpected Surprise

July 18, 2003

Those of you who have been unfortunate enough to have to sit and listen to me talk are aware of the fact that I am flat ass broke. (hmm, I wonder if that actually infers that I have somehow flattened my ass….) For better or for worse though, I will be getting some money back from Uncle Sam any minute now (Aren’t e-file & Direct Deposit the greatest?) and I just got a check yesterday from my now defunct 401k. Even though MOST of this sudden windfall is going to bills…..I think I will run out and see about a “budget” digital camera!

Let there be MovableType…

July 17, 2003

…and there was MovableType…..and it was good….
It’s crazy enough….it just….might……work!!!!
Oy! Well, I think I’m ready to make the switch. There were a few maddening hours there…but I think I’ve got things mostly under control. There are still a few wrinkles to iron out here and there, but all in all, I’m very happy with the way this has worked out.
For those of you who aren’t using MovableType, (There are like 3 bloggers out there who don’t….right?) I found the actual installation quite painless, but the configuration to get things the way I am used to took some doing.
However, now that it is done I would say it was/is totally worth it!

Hello?

Anyone there?

<sigh>

Well, for those of you who are here….please bear with me. Ironically, I was really busy the last few weeks of my last contract, and didn’t have time to work on the site. I was then unemployed for a couple of months, and somehow didn’t feel the urge to sit in front of ye old computer. Now, I have a new contract, which is keeping me busier than I am accustomed to, and I also have all kinds of things being cooked up behind the scenes.

<BLOG GEEK> I am currently trying to configure Movable Type, learn CSS, add my Blogroll, and decide what to do for pictures without a digital camera! </BLOG GEEK>

<POLITICS GEEK> Hey, check out the Selectsmart dealie on the left! I know it’s still early for the 2004 election but I just want to find a way to oust our current dictat….err…you know…. </POLITICS GEEK>

Oh Yeah! I have a new Mini-Me! (…Wee-Mee…whatever) Whaddya Think?
