Who needs a new leaf?

December 30, 2003

Wow…..does anyone else think that it seems way too soon for 2004? Of course, I might just be feeling nostalgic due to the fact I received an invitation to my 10 year High School Reunion! What I think is funny is that it’s not being almost 28 that I mind…but the idea that I’ve been an “adult” for a whole decade….

You may have noticed that there’s no picture on the left…..that’s because there was no Digital Camera under the Christmas Tree this year….so, I Accuse My Parents….

Raven & I did get some good old $$$ however, and we are thinking about combining our loot to get a fancy-pants camera. The only problem is that it’s still a bit more loot than we have. Ugh.

As far as resolutions go, I don’t know if I’m going to have any this year. I’ll probably just keep plodding along as usual, and maybe get myself one of those 4-year degree thingies. Then we can talk about resolutions……

Midnight Madness!

December 18, 2003

Yes indeed. The King has returned! Raven, Lala & her husband Dave, Wade, Stephen, Amanda, Ben, my Mom & Dad, and I all went to the 12:01am showing on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. And it was good.

I’m not really sure what else to say about it. If you liked the first two movies you’ll like this one, if you didn’t like the first two movies there’s probably a better way for you to spend 3 hours and 20 minutes of your life. However, I really liked it and can’t wait to see it again and better yet see the whole trilogy with extended scenes and all some ambitious weekend……

Other than that, I have one more class tonight before I get a whole month off of school. This would again be more exciting if I didn’t still have to work the majority of that time…….However, Raven and I are fleeing the Twin Cities for a week, and we intend to do a little bit of skiing and a whole lotta relaxing!

Finally, File this under Better Late Than Never…..the Friday Five:

1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays?

Yes I truly do. I don’t know if it’s just the Winter Holidays, or just the Skiing, or both. I am a native Minnesotan however, so I think after a few days of cold weather my blood just thickens or something. I also don’t like hot weather. You can always put another log on the fire or sleep under another blanket….

2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect?

Well, my parents bought some Time-Share at Breezy Point Resort back in the 80s. Our family has spent nearly every Christmas since up in good ole Unit 502. Of course, nowadays I’d need to be with my lovely wife to really appreciate the season.

3. Do you do have any holiday traditions?

Let’s see. I guess I would have to say… Reading: Peef: The Christmas Bear & Watching: The Muppets Christmas Carol.

Hmm, that doesn’t seem like a very long list….tell ya what, I’ll take notes this year and post afterwords what we did….

4. Do you do anything to help the needy?

Sadly, no. I guess it has to do with the fact that I am always strapped for cash, and that I spend other times of the year volunteering. Christmas is like my one true zone out and do nothing king of holiday.

5. What one gift would you like for yourself?

If I don’t get a Digital Camera this year I am disowning my family.

Full Circle

December 9, 2003

Please remain seated and keep your arms and feet inside until the car comes to a complete stop and the safety restraints are raised….

OK. So, last week on Tuesday I was told that it would be my last day of my contract. They wanted to let me know that they were very happy with my work, but there was no money in the budget. If I wanted to return down the road and they had an opening I would be the first one called….yada yada yada….

I took this news more or less in stride. It’s not the first time a contract I was working ended unexpectedly and I try to maintain a healthy attitude in general and believe that everything that happens is meant to happen. Maybe this would lead to a different/better (Yeah, by better I mean more $$$) position. I was all set to go out on a one day contract doing a PC rollout tomorrow.

So I get this call today, “They want you back, can you start tomorrow morning?”. So yeah, basically, I got a nice week off with no pay, so they could get their act together and pay for me for at least another year.

Then, earlier tonight, I was IMed by the guy I worked with. I was all set to surprise him with the news that I would be there tomorrow, when he says that today was his last day. So, I have to go into work tomorrow, do the work of 2 people (since my coworker is gone) and really not have anything to show for the last week of my life.

P.S. On a brighter note, the results of this online quiz made me laugh……
